Connect Vindex to ChatGPT
Product owners draft in ChatGPT and paste into Jira. Connecting Vindex means the paste happens after the check instead of before it, and the story that reaches refinement is the one that already passed.

The walkthrough
Create the Vindex connector
In ChatGPT, open Settings, then Connectors. Under Advanced, turn on Developer mode, then choose Create. Name the connector Vindex, paste the server URL, and leave authentication on OAuth.
Connectors are a paid-plan feature; check the current plan comparison if the option is missing. Workspace admins on Team and Enterprise plans can publish the connector to everyone once.

When you save the connector, ChatGPT opens the Vindex sign-in. Use the account you use for the Vindex Portal; new users create one here and start on the free plan.
Afterwards the connector is listed as connected. In a chat, open the plus menu, choose Developer mode, and select Vindex so its tools are available in that conversation.
Score your first story
Paste a story and ask ChatGPT to score it with Vindex. Mention the tracker key if you have one; ChatGPT passes it as the story id so later checks of the same story are free.
The finding comes first, then the percentage and band. If ChatGPT summarizes the numbers in its own words, ask for the Vindex result as returned; the percentages are Vindex's.

What comes back
The result reads finding first: the one change that moves the score most, in plain language. Then the overall percentage and its band (Healthy 80 to 100, Needs review 60 to 79, At risk 0 to 59), then the six INVEST dimensions with reasons and suggestions when you ask for them.
The band is Vindex’s suggestion. ChatGPT does not stop or change anything on its own; what happens next is your call. Fix the story and ask again: the re-check of a counted story is free.
Troubleshooting
Developer mode or Create is missing
Custom MCP connectors need a paid plan and, on Team and Enterprise, a workspace admin to allow them. Check Settings, then Connectors, then Advanced for the Developer mode toggle.
ChatGPT answers without calling Vindex
Select Vindex from the plus menu in the conversation first. Connectors are opt-in per chat, and saying 'with Vindex' in the request helps the model pick the tool.
The result is a single sentence, no percentages
That is a Vindex error message: a timeout, a busy company, or an exhausted allowance. Ask ChatGPT to check Vindex usage, or try again shortly.
